Rites 2

As a respected graphic artist in Indonesia, Christine Ay Tjoe has proven her capabilities in her specialised usage of 'dry-point', a printmaking technique, in her artworks. "Drypoint is made by scratching lines into metal plates with steel or diamond-point needles. In this method the penetration into the plate is negligible; it is the metal burr raised by the point that holds the ink. Because the burr is irregular, it prints as a soft, velvety line." (Source: www.britannica.com) Meticulous attention is needed to create the clean lines that are her trademark. In Rites 2, these lines are explored using a different media but still maintain the artist's sensitivity to the line work whilst expressing them. Christine is also interested in the spirit of things, both on the immediate level of the consequent rituals/rites that may prevail because of this spirituality and further on on another realm which is beyond ordinary comprehension.
