Lot Essay

The composition, under the title 'de wiin is een spotter' (sic), was engraved by Hendrick Bary in 1670 after Frans van Mieris' original of 1664 listing Christoffel Pierson on the lower right. The print is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue of Tot Lering en Vermaak, Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, 1976, p. 248, fig. 65c.
