Lot Essay

In W magazine's September 2003 tribute to Kate Moss, which featured a 40-page portfolio of the supermodel by a roster of artists and photographers, Close presented his unflinching daguerreotype studies of Kate's bare face and body. The complete set of six prints comprising nine images made after the daguerreotypes appears at auction for the first time.
