The consummate statesman, Churchill was also a fine writer, as evidenced by the quantity of important works here represented: the haunting account of the reconquest of the Sudan in The River War, his biographies of his father, Lord Randolph Churchill, and Marlborough, and his memoirs of the World Wars, The Great Crisis and The Second World War.
