Provenance

The Untitled Film Still presented in this lot -- number one from the edition of ten -- was selected by Cindy Sherman and directly donated by her to the 1985 benefit 'Women Photographers NOW', which marked the 20th anniversary of the National Organization for Women in the United States. Sherman, along with many other noted women photographers, including Berenice Abbott and Annie Leibovitz, supported the charity auction by donating their own work. This lot was purchased at the event by the present owner and has been in her possession until now.
