Lot Essay

Based on the picture painted by Goya or in his studio formerly in the Ruspoli collection, Spain.

Juliet Bareau, who has inspected the present picture in person, states in a letter to the present owner dated 8 February 1999 that she considers the picture to be a contemporary copy painted between 1789 and 1799.
