The Nativity

We are very grateful to Mr. Ludwig Meyer for his assistance in cataloguing this lot. Mr. Meyer notes that the artist can be stylistically located as from Upper Swabia, between the Danube and the Alps; within that area, the Strigel family had established a prominent workshop in Memmingen, and Mr. Meyer suggests that the present hand is close enough to infer an early training in the Strigel workshop.
