Lot Essay

'Those who care for Mr Colin Hunter's work', wrote De Cordova, 'will easily recognise his characteristic seapiece, in which the sea is painted with his own masterful knowledge of its ever-varying moods.' The picture was placed two to the right of MacWhirter's Silver Birches (lot 277), with James Archer's Centaurs in between.
