Lot Essay

The present watercolour was executed by A.T. Francia, who was the pupil of both R.P. Bonington and his father F.L.T. Francia. Alexandre was born in Calais circa 1815, he travelled widely in Scotland and the Low Countries and exhibited marine subjects in Paris and London between 1841-1867.
