Extract from letter: Written by an Officer, one W. Bradford, the letter includes details of the manoeuvring going on at the time "We are now close to the Khybur which is not to be fought for, but purchased, so I expect that we shall have no fighting anywhere for I do not believe the Afghans will meet us on the plains of Jallalabad and they say we are not to go to Caubul (sic)"
