Lot Essay

Marie Sophie 'Victoire' Alexandrine Hollard was born in Lausanne on 7 November 1797 (or 1798) and married Paul Joseph 'Victor' du Hault de Pressensé (1796-1871) on 6 March 1823. Their son Edmond (1824-1891) became a renowned vicar in Paris. According to a handwritten note on the reverse of the frame, this miniature was painted in Paris in 1817.
