Varying sizes from 5.7 x 9cm. to 21.2 x 28.2cm. or reverse.

Including 40 small-scale reference prints which are captioned and numbered in pencil on the mounts. These correspond to a printed list of 49 images, which were presumably available for sale. The list is divided into two groups with the headings List of Indian Photographs. Views, 10 x 8 and Indian Figures and Groups.

16 prints by Trail are included in the Archaeological Remains and Antiquities Vol. 35 of the India Office Collections in the British Library. In 1873, selected views from the series were exhibited in the International Exhibition in South Kensington, as well as the Vienna Universal Exhibition.
