Lot Essay

Richard Buckle was a well-known ballet critic. In 1939 he founded the magazine Ballet, and between 1948 and 1955 he was ballet critic for The Observer. He also organised numerous exhibitions including the quatercentenary Shakespeare exhibition at Stratford-upon-Avon. The present work was executed on the reverse of a leaflet for this exhibition.
