Lot Essay

Count Johan Otto Wrangel enjoyed a brilliant military career, fought in Pomerania in 1805-1807 and retired in 1813. He was made a chamberlain in 1812.
We are indebted to Dr Magnus Olausson, Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, for the identification of the sitter, and to Ms Emilia Ström, Swedish Portrait Archives, Stockholm, for her help in reseraching this miniature.
