DONI, Antonio Francesco (1513-1574). La Libraria del Doni Fiorentino...di nova ristampata, corretta, & molt cose aggiunte che mancavano. Venice: Gabriel Giolito de' Ferrari & Brothers, 1550.
12o (135 x 76 mm). Historiated initials, 2 different Giolito marks on title and last page. Burgundy morocco, triple blind fillets on sides, gilt-lettered on spine, rough edges gilt, by Bauzonnet-Trautz c. 1840-50 (joints lightly rubbed).
Second edition of La Libraria, published in the same year as the first. Its main difference is the suppression, in the catalogue of authors, of the name of Lodovico Domenici with whom Doni had quarreled (as he had with many of his contemporaries). Ff. 71-72r now reprints a satirical piece, "La Mula, Diceria del Doni." This edition is more finely printed than the first. A nineteenth-century hand has noted on the verso of the front endleaf: "Joli exemplaire de la bonne édition qui se reconnait à la gravure libre de la première page." On the first page is a woodcut initial of a naked boy in statu erectionis pursuing a girl. Mortimer/Italian 163; Ottino & Fumagalli 604.
