The arrival of the English Admiralty or Royal Yacht off Amsterdam is almost certainly connected to the additional diplomatic activity resulting from the marriage of King George II's daughter Anne, the Princess Royal (1709-59), to William IV, Prince of Orange (1711-51), in 1734. After her marriage, Anne took up residence at The Hague but received frequent visits from members of her family as well as ambassadors and other notables.
