Lot Essay

The present work is a study for a mural completed in 1905 by Blashfield entitled Westward, found between the first and second floors on the east side of the Iowa Sate Capitol building. Westward, measuring 14 feet high and 40 feet wide, depicts early pioneers traveling through Iowa.
