with a fashioned bone snuff box with tortoiseshell inlay ('SNUFF BOX WHICH BELONGED TO MIDSHIPMAN HARDY (sic) of Captain Cooks's Ship. DISCOVERY. 1779.' according to a label dated 'SYDNEY 1884' attached to the interior of the lid). (2)

William Harvey served on both the Resolution and the Discovery on Cook's third voyage (1776-80) and is thought to have settled in Australia in the late 1790s.
