Further details
Known primarily for his paintings of modernist landmark buildings, over the last year, contemporary artist Enoc Perez has created a new body of photo-based work mixing found imagery from the internet and hand-cut collage. Sourcing images from social media and amateur ‘selfies’ to published sources, Perez adds hand-painted and cut forms to both obscure and enhance the picture. The cut-out shapes function as censor's marks – thwarting our ability to see the original image in its entirety while making it all the more intriguing.
Vitality and freshness characterise his work, making this signature work by Perez irresistible as the only piece produced in the last year to be included in the auction selection.
Perez is represented in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Corcoran Art Gallery, and the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, among other significant institutions.
