RUSSIAN, EARLY 19TH CENTURY
The Mother of God supporting Christ in an upright position, is seated on an elaborately carved and gilded throne. She is adored by four saints, probably from the Solovetskii Monastery. The faces are delicately rendered and the deep colours are highlighted with gold brushstrokes.
