Small 4° (183 x 132mm). Collation: A4 A-T4. Woodcut titleborder [McKerrow & Ferguson 50, with initials T.P. at foot. (Outer and lower blank margin of title skilfully remargined, also lower margin of first A2-4.) Early 19th-century brown straight-grained morocco, tooled in gilt and blind (joints very slightly rubbed), edges gilt. EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with 47 engraved illustrations from 17th- and 18th-century editions, a 16th-century full-page portrait of Thomas More, a woodcut from the Ship of Fools, 3 leaves of 'prefatory epistle from Erasmus to Tho. More' from a 17th-century edition. Provenance: John Catley, contemporary signature on title.
