Further details
Son of Henri Rouart, he married Julie Manet, the daughter of Berthe Morisot and of Eugène Manet, the brother of the famous painter. Firmly defending the Impressionists, he was one of the figures who constantly worked towards promoting his family’s artworks. For example, he spearheaded the centenary exhibition held for Manet at the Orangerie Museum in 1932, that for Degas in 1937 and for Berthe Morisot in 1941.
