Lot Essay

Peruvian by birth, Federico del Campo studied under Lorenz Valles in Madrid before travelling extensively throughout Italy. Although famous for his Venetian views, del Campo also worked in Naples, Rome, Florence and Capri. Del Campo's highly detailed and atmospheric compositions catered for a growing demand from the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth century Grand Tourists.
