An attractive set of the memoires of Claude de Forbin, the celebrated French naval commander. Mémoires covers his life and maritime adventures from 1675-1710, ranging from his extended mission to Siam on behalf of Louis XIV, to his various naval engagements against the British including his involvement at the Battle at the Lizard alongside Duguay-Trouin. Polak 7976.
12mo (167 x 96mm). Half-titles, engraved frontispiece portrait in vol.1, woodcut title devices (light spotting and browning). Contemporary mottled calf (skilfully repaired at joints and head of vol.1). Provenance: F. Larnac, Uzés.
