FOUR STRAPS FROM A HORSE HARNESS; AND A SWORD BELT AND CARRIER
The first North Italian, circa 1600; the second in early 17th Century style
The straps comprising different parts of the same set, of leather covered with red velvet and lined with red silk, decorated with small blued and gilt iron plaques mostly damascened with gold scrollwork, but including six embossed in relief with gold-damascened and gilt trophies of arms, and with gilt iron buckles; the belt and carrier of pale blue velvet embroidered in gold thread and trimmed with black beads, with cast brass mounts, the lining with an inventory number
the longest strap 45 in. (114.2 cm.); the carrier 13 in. (34.3 cm.) high (5)
