Provenance
We are grateful to Catherine Puglisi for confirming the attribution on the basis of photographs (private communication, 6 December 2012). The panel is nearly identical in size and composition to Albani's Venus and Adonis of circa 1617 in the Galleria Regionale della Sicilia, Palermo (inv. 493; see C.R. Puglisi, Francesco Albani, New Haven and London, 1999, p. 136, no. 49, pl. 124).
