One of a series of large, finished drawings predominantly in red wash and illustrating Biblical scenes, which must have been made by Fontebasso as independent works (M.Magrini, 'Francesco Fontebasso - I Disegni', Saggi e memorie, Florence, 1990, 17, figs. 102-138). A drawing from the series showing The Deposition was sold in these Rooms, 24 January 2001, lot 73.
