Lot Essay

Perhaps related to a series of preparatory drawings for 24 engravings by Antonio Sandi of views of the islands in the Venetian Lagoon. These engravings were published by Furlanetto shortly after 1779. Around thirty such drawings are known of which six are in the Albertina, two are in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, and six are in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
