Lot Essay

Launcelot was owned by the 1st Marquess of Westminster and was favorite to win the St. Leger in 1840 with odds at 7/4. He was ridden by Bill Scott and trained by John Scott at Malton. By Camel, out of Banter, Launcelot was foaled in 1837. He was a full brother to the famous Touchstone who was foaled in 1831 (see lot 12).
