Engraved dedication to Giovanni Carlo Fuchs signed by Giovanni Troschel, engraved frontispiece 'ad instanza del M.R.P.D. Giulio Cesare Sartirana nell Monastero di S. Pietro Giessate di Milano,' signed 'G.F.A.,' engraved title, 49 plates, most numbered, the first signed by F. Villamena. (Lacking a plate [?]15 but with plate 16 in duplicate, title with short tear at outer margin, plate 1 with clean tear affecting image and crude repair on verso, the same plate also with an ink spot at foot, plate 49 spotted, some browning and spotting of margins.) 18th-century vellum with morocco lettering-piece, red speckled edges (slightly bowed, corners bumped). A RARE EMBLEM BOOK, with caption to each plate in Latin and Italian. Plate 13 shows Francis's meeting with the Sultan of Turkey in 1219, and plate 46 his receiving of the Stigmata on Mount La Verna in 1224. BL STC Italian Books 1465 to 1600.
