Lot Essay

In 1953 Eric Cecil and his cousin Neil Vincent organized the first East African Rally. Bored with racing around monotonous tracks, the rally began in Nairobi, went round Lake Victoria, through Uganda and modern Tanzania before returning to Kenya. In the 1960s it expanded to include Kampala and Dar es Salaam.
