Lot Essay

The Dorothy to whom Astaire's photograph is dedicated is Dorothy Stone who took over as leading lady in the stage version of The Gay Divorcee in 1933. In the film version of the same name, released in 1934, Astaire starred with his regular partner, Ginger Rogers.
