Lot Essay

Frederick Waters Watts exhibited 76 paintings at the Royal Academy between 1821 and 1860. He lived in Hampstead and established a studio on the High Street from where he travelled extensively throughout England and Wales, making outdoor oil sketches in preparation for his finished paintings.
