Noteworthy Events of 1905. London: Merritt and Hatcher, 1906. Small 8vo. (Some light crinkling.) Contemporary green buckram for A.L. Ford, lettered in black, original printed grey front wrapper bound in (binding waterstained). PRESENTATION COPY TO ALFRED J. GASTON (his name inscribed by Ashley-Cooper at head of limitation leaf), thence to: -- A.L. Ford (binding and bookplate).

Many of the usual statistical tables were omitted from this issue making it the shortest in the series. Fielding was perhaps less sharp than it is now since in the Gents. of England v Australia match at Crystal Palace in May, 'R.A. Duff made a 9 -- 5 all run off W. Brearley, and 4 from the overthrow (reaching the boundary) by G.L. Jessop'. The speed of Jessop's scoring is noted, as is the debut of Hobbs who 'had the distinction of playing a three-figure innings (28 and 155) on his first appearance for Surrey'. Wynne-Thomas p. 21; Padwick 921.
