Lot Essay

Between 1927 and 1929 Hunter lived in the South of France, painting in Antibes and Saint Tropez during 1927, moving on to Cassis in 1928, until poor health forced him to return to Glasgow in 1929. The present study of Juan-les-Pins, close to Antibes, is one of Hunter's many plein air sketches of the South of France.
