Lot Essay

Another miniature with a fishbowl and goldfish by Gerard van Spaendonck, but with a basket of flowers and a goldfinch on an alabaster urn, is in the Noordbrabants Museum, 's-Hertogenbosch. A fruit piece with a fishbowl has also been recorded (op. cit., p. 211). We are grateful to Dr. Sam Segal for his assistance with cataloguing this lot.
