Small 8vo, woodcut frontispiece, woodcut illustrations, with final blank. (Laminated repair to lower corner of G1 and Q2, small hole in C1 affecting 2 or 3 letters, lower margin of T2 repaired, lightly browned throughout.) Morocco gilt by Zaehnsdorf, spine ruled and lettered in gilt, inner dentelles (new endpapers).

Second edition, first published in 1621. Apart from Countrey Contentments (1615), this was Markham's only book solely devoted to country sports. Dealing with every aspect of fowling, it was entirely original and intended to benefit, not only those at home, but colonists in 'the blessed plantation of Virginia'. Poynter 25.2; Wing M 657.
