Lot Essay

Primolano is in the Valsugana some distance from Giacomo Guardi's studio in Venice on the road to the Guardi Family's ancestral home in the Trentine Alps. A view of Borgo di Valsugana, 25 miles from Primolano, drawn by Giacomo's father Francesco on a journey to the mountains in 1778, was sold at Christie's King Street, 6 July 2004, lot 84.
