Lot Essay

A view of Brussels from the North East, of similar scale and technique to the present drawing and similarly inscribed with the location outside the framing lines, is in the Louvre (F. Lugt, Inventaire général des dessins des Écoles du Nord, École Flamande, Paris, 1949, II, no. 955). Two views from the same series, of Dordrecht and Kattenburg, were sold at Sotheby's, London, 26 November 1970, lots 3 and 4.
