Sale room notice
We are grateful to Dr. Stefano L'Occaso and Monica Ibsen for having informed us that this is a study for the frescoed Sacrafice of Isaac which is part of the ceiling decoration of the Cappella del Santissimo Sacramento in the Santa Maria Annunziata Cathedral in Salò (see M. Ibsen, Il Duomo di Salò, Gussago, 1999, fig. 71, p. 111). Another preparatory drawing for the ceiling fresco of the Cappella del Santissimo Sacramento showing the The Stoning of Zechariah is in the Istituto nazionale per la grafica, Rome (see M. Ibsen, op. cit., fig. 72, p. 112).
