We are grateful to Dr. Erich Schleier (private communication, 7 August 2001) for confirming the attribution of the present painting to Troppa on the basis of a color photograph and for pointing out that it is an exact replica of a larger signed work on canvas in the Copenhagen Statens Museum (museum catalogue, 1951, p. 319, no. 713, 98 x 72 cm.). Another signed version in a private collection, Rome, was published by Dr. Schleier in 'Aggiunte a Girolamo Troppa pittore e disegnatore', Antichità Viva, XXXII, 1993, p. 20, fig. 13.
