Lot Essay

Dr. Edgar Peters Bowron has proposed the attribution to Giuseppe Bottani on the basis of photographs. He presumes it to be a sketch for a larger composition of the same subject by the artist with additional figures, sold in these Rooms on 17 June 1988, lot 98.
