Born in Paris in 1907, Elizabeth Greenhill was first introduced to bookbinding at Bedales by Roger Powell's father, Oswald. In the twenties, she studied design at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Paris where Pierre Legrain was the director. She worked for many years as a restorer before exclusively turning to fine binding. She was president of Designer Bookbinders, of which Flora Ginn is a fellow.
