A modern brass orrery, loosely based on the design of W. Jones, with brass sunball and six planet arms for Mercury, Venus, Earth with moon, Mars, Jupiter with four moons and Saturn, each planet painted white and black, the moons painted white, the 14-inch (35cm.) diameter brass horizon plate engraved with maker's mark around the central axis, with seasons, compass directions, graduations in days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, mounted on ebonised circular plate with eleven-wheeled brass gear mechanism mounted beneath and operated by ivorine turning handle, on three baluster turned ebonised pillars terminating in bun feet -- 9½in. (24.1cm.) high
