Lot Essay

Hans Dahl studied in Karlsruhe (1872-1873) and in Düsseldorf (1873-1876). He was exhibited at the World Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876. In 1888, he went to live in Berlin and travelled to Balestrand, Norway, every summer before moving there in 1919. He mainly depicted landscapes with radiant sunshine and jovial peasants typified by these examples.
