Lot Essay

A memento of the collaboration between Leslie Linder, the 'celebrated' Potter scholar and collector, and Frederick Ashton, who had choreographed the ballet and created the part of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle. He charmingly re-enacted her dance at the opening of the Beatrix Potter Exhibition at Penshurst Place, Kent in June 1971. Ashton had not yet been knighted in 1971.

Christie's are grateful to Anne Stevenson Hobbs for her help in preparing this catalogue entry.
