Lot Essay

Third daughter of the future Paul I and Maria Feodorovna, she displayed a talent for music at an early age. In 1804 she married Carl Friedrich of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, who died in 1853. Her life was dedicated to the arts and sciences being hailed by Goethe as one of the worthiest women of her time.
