Lot Essay

Huo Chunyang is a noted calligrapher and painter who was born in Qingwan of Hebei province. After he graduated from the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 1969, he spent his career there holding a variety of posts, including director and professor. Currently, he is the curator of the Gallery of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, professor, academic advisor, Vice-president of Tianjin Artists Association, and council member of China Association for Promotion of Culture. He is also a distinguished professor and doctoral advisor at important universities and institutions including Beijing, Tsinghua, China National Academy of Painting and Studio of Glorious Treasures (Rong Bao Zhai). He is also rewarded the special allowance of the Government of the State Council. His collaborative work with Sun Qifeng in 1976, Mountain Flowers in Full Bloom, was exhibited in the fourth National Exhibition of Artistic Works and purchased by the National Art Museum of China.
