Lot Essay

The attribution has been suggested by Willem van de Watering; he compares the present lot to the painting signed J. Blouw, coll. Municipality of Capelle aan de IJssel. No facts about this artist are known. Van de Watering believes that he is identical with Isack Blau, who was mentioned as an artist, aged 38, by an Amsterdam notary on 20 December 1667
