IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT, 1934
An original script for the Columbia Pictures film. Typed and underlined on the brown paper cover, IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT; includes one hundred and eighty-five typed onion skin pages. Signed in original black ink on the first page, Clark Gable as "Peter Warne"; signed in blue ink by the director, Frank Capra; also signed in blue ink Claudette Colbert, who portrayed "Ellie". Below the typed title a handwritten note and signature of Robert Risan, the screenwriter for It Happened One Night. Mr. Risan expresses his surprise at the acceptance of the comedy by the movie critics and public: "The unusual interest in "It Happened One Night" still remains a mystery to me. It was never intended for more than a light, frothy comedy -- and it therefore, should be gratifying to those who attempt this form to know there is a place for it in the dramatic medium - Robert Risan."
